Editorial Policy

Last updated: April 2026

The Israel Gazette is committed to independent, accurate, and accountable journalism. This Editorial Policy sets out the standards and principles governing how we gather, verify, and publish news and commentary.

1. Editorial Independence

Our editorial decisions are made solely by our editorial team and are not influenced by advertisers, sponsors, investors, or any political organisation or government body. Commercial relationships do not affect our editorial coverage.

2. Accuracy and Verification

Before publishing, we make every reasonable effort to verify facts through at least two independent sources; consult primary sources wherever available; make clear when information is unverified or developing; and seek comment from parties named or affected by a report. We distinguish clearly between confirmed information and information that is alleged, developing, or unverified.

3. Sources and Attribution

We attribute all information to its source wherever possible. Anonymous sourcing is used only when a source faces genuine risk and the information is sufficiently important to the public interest. We do not fabricate sources or quotes.

4. Fairness and Balance

On matters of ongoing dispute, we aim to present significant perspectives held by credible parties. We give subjects of criticism a fair opportunity to respond before publication. Balance does not mean false equivalence.

5. Conflicts of Interest

Our journalists and editors are expected to disclose any connections that could create a real or perceived conflict of interest. We do not accept gifts or inducements from subjects of our coverage.

6. Opinion and Analysis

Commentary, opinion, and analysis are clearly labelled and visually distinct from news reporting. Opinion content represents the views of the individual author and not the editorial position of The Israel Gazette.

7. Sponsored Content

Any sponsored or commercially funded content is clearly and prominently labelled. Advertisers have no input into editorial decisions.

8. Sensitive Coverage

We approach sensitive subjects including casualties of conflict, victims of violence, and minors with care and dignity.

9. Use of AI Tools

The Israel Gazette may use AI tools to assist with tasks such as image sourcing, translation, or research. All published articles are reviewed and approved by human editors before publication.

10. Corrections

We correct errors promptly and transparently. See our Corrections Policy for full details.
